NYSC INDUCTS 700 NEW STAFF, DG HARPS ON CAPACITY BUILDING

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has reiterated his administration’s commitment to capacity building that would enhance staff performance for higher productivity

He stated this today at the opening ceremony of the induction course for the Seven Hundred newly employed staff of the Scheme held at the NYSC Nasarawa State Orientation Camp in Keffi.

The Director General assured the new staff that the Service Corps is working relentlessly to ensure payment of their salaries and the arrears. He also pledged that they will be given the requisite support to discharge their responsibilities in line with the policy thrust of his administration.

‘’The training will also build your capacity and equip you with knowledge and skills that will enable you perform your responsibilities diligently”, he said.

While welcoming the inductees into the NYSC family, the Director General who was represented by the Director Community Development Service and Special Projects, Hajiya Zainab Isa urged the new staff to take advantage of the induction course to sharpen their knowledge, skills and contribute their quota to the growth of the Scheme in line with the Public Service Rules.

“It is important to remind you that NYSC is a highly disciplined orgnisation, with dedicated, focused and committed officers.

Therefore, you must understand that your roles require the highest level of exemplary conduct at all times and in all situations”, the DG said.

In his welcome address, the Director, Human Resource Management Department, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed said the programme was packaged to equip the newly employed staff with basic information on the administration and operations of the public service and the NYSC in particular, adding that effective dispensation of their responsibilities is highly dependent on their capability, knowledge and expertise which can only be enhanced through training.

Participants at the three days induction training with the theme; ‘’Capacity Building for NYSC Staff: Panacea for a successful Career and Sustained Youth Development’’ were drawn from all NYSC formations across the country and the National Directorate Headquarters of the Scheme in Abuja.

Speakers at the induction course include the Director, Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mr Omotade Ayodele, the Head of Reforms Unit, Mr Sunday Aroni among others.
