Accept posting in good faith, Akwa Ibom NYSC urges corps members

The Akwa Ibom State coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Chinyere Ekwe, has urged corps members to accept their postings and ensure they add value to their employers at their places of primary assignments.

She said that the posting were done in compliance with government’s directive, adding that about 95 per cent of the corps members were posted to schools across the state.

Ekwe gave the charge on Monday during the passing out ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Corps Members which held at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Nsit Antai LGA

She charged the corps members to make good use of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme adding that the programme was designed to equip corps members in various skills acquisition to make them self sustenance after service year.

“I would like to appeal to all Corps Members to accept their postings in good fate. Settle down and work towards adding value to employers and the transformation of your host communities through Community Development Service engagement,” Ekwe said.

The state coordinator warned corps members against unauthorised journeys, and appealed to them that if permitted to travel, they should avoid night journeys.

According to her, the management of the scheme would not hesitate to discipline erring corps members to avoid unforeseen consequences.

“Let me warn again that unauthorised journeys are seriously frowned at. And if permitted to travel, you must avoid night journeys. NYSC cannot afford to lose any of her corps members through road mishap any more,” she said.

The state NYSC coordinator commended Gov. Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom and the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Monday Uko, for the support in infrastructure development in the orientation camp.

She thanked the camp officials for their unflinching support throughout the orientation exercise and admonished corps members to be law abiding, disciplined and security conscious during their sojourn in the state.
