2022 UTME/DE REGISTRATION: JAMB WARNS CBT CENTERS, VENDORS, STAFF AGAINST STORAGE OF CANDIDATES DATA

2022 UTME/DE Registration: JAMB Warns CBT Centres, Vendors, Staff Against Storage Of Candidates Data

In its bid to ensure that candidates are not extorted or subjected to unnecessary pressure , the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned all operators of Computer Based Test centres, e-pin vendors, staff of JAMB and others involved in any aspect of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) and the Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise against keeping any of candidates’ data.

Consequently, the Board said none of the officials in the registration value chain is authorised to keep candidates’ profile codes, UTME registration or phone numbers, which candidates may make available to them in the course of the registration process.

The Board in its weekly bulletin added that candidates, on the other hand, are also, urged to ensure that they guide their information (data) jealously by providing their details to only designated officials while ensuring that what they provide is not duplicated or kept anywhere.

“This Information became necessary following the outcome of the monitoring exercise of the commencement of the exercise which began on Saturday,19th February, 2022.”

To ensure a hitch free exercise, the Registrar, JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had visited centres in Lagos and Ilorin, while other members of management had gone to other states across the six geopolitical zones of the country to assess the situation of things.

The Registrar described the commencement of the registration exercise, which had begun on a low key, as a positive beginning, and assured the that all the little hiccups noted would be addressed.

He disclosed that candidates can also make use of the USSD code, 66019, to generate their profiles.

In another development, the Board has given approval to all accredited Computer Based Test centre owners to handle access to the Board services to perform certain specialised operations and further broaden one of its critical operations that was, hitherto, restricted to ony JAMB offices.

Consequently, with effect from Tuesday, 22nd, February 2022, candidates can visit any CBT centre nearest to them nationwide to access this particular service.

The particular service being liberalised is the registration of candidates who wish to obtain application forms for Part-Time, Sandwich, National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN) and Distance Learning programmes.

As a proactive agency, the Board decides to decongest the huge crowds being witnessed at its various facilities.

With this, candidates do not have to visit the Board’s offices for this particular services.
