The Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has hailed the decision of lecturers to return to classes.
The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called off its eight-month strike on Friday.
Ogundipe expressed hope that such a prolonged industrial action would not occur again.
The don noted that the institution would ensure that students returned to campus as soon as possible.
Ogundipe said ASUU was not fighting the government, but just had some differences which have been resolved.
The VC disclosed that during the strike, some non-teaching activities were happening on campus.
Now that the strike has been suspended, we are going to ensure that in the next two weeks our students come back”, NAN quoted him saying.
