HISTORY OF TUMA COMPETITION
The Ambassadors Schools Ota, Ogun State was established in 1998, with the aim of making a distinctive impact and fostering the spiritual, physical and emotional development of every child.
We also aim at raising purpose-driven children, thereby empowering burgeoning learners with the unction to function in a world riddled with challenges. In summary, we are committed to “building a total child.”
In our Christian co-educational school, which is full-fledged and government-approved, we place premium on the teaching of all approved subjects. As such, we do not make light the importance of education in solving problems in today’s evolutionary world. One vital school subject which we,from our wealth of experience, have discovered to have the capability of improving creative problem-solving skills in learners in different educational levels is Mathematics.
It is on account of the above that we consider The Ultimate Mathematics Ambassador (TUMA) competition part of our corporate social responsibilities. Our target participants are primary five and six pupils in private and public schools within the states which form our areas of coverage: Lagos State and Ogun State. What inspires our decision to begin from the grassroots – the foundational level of our education system – is the need to eliminate the phobia for Mathematics with a view to preparing the pupils for future problem-solving tasks, even as they advance to higher educational levels. Our objective is to sensitise, encourage and stimulate learners’ interest in Mathematics.
AIMS OF THE COMPETITION
Among others, TUMA is ambitioned to:
➢ discover, encourage and challenge mathematically gifted learners in Nigeria;
➢ reduce and ultimately eliminate Mathematics phobia amongst pupils in our country;
➢ stimulate the interest of pupils in the study of Mathematics;
