The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state has made some charities on the reopening of hall of residence inside campus following the announced resumption of physical classes.
In a statement signed by the Public relation officer of the university, Prof Abiodun Olanrewaju on Saturday, the management had announced a batched resumption of physical classes for practicals.
The management though in the statement did not clarify the reopening of hostels for students the are not staying off campus.
However, speaking with the registrar, Mrs Omosule M.I, The Dean of the student affairs, Prof. Aransi and the university spokesman, Abiodun Olanrewaju on Saturday, they all affirmed that students who were given accommodation can now go back to their various hall of residence as scheduled in the phased resumption circular earlier released.
When clarification was sought on whether students are allowed back or not to the halls of residence, Mrs Omosule said “Yes, students who were given accommodation would be allowed access into the hall of residence”.
She however laid emphasis on a fact and urge students to note that resumption is in phase and warned students to only resume as scheduled in the circular.
Affirming what Mrs Omosule said, the Dean of the student affairs said, “The hall of residence would be opened for students that have accommodation inside the campus. Other students that do not have accommodation should not come.” he warned.
The University PRO, Abiodun Olanrewaju also disclosed that the hostel is now open for students who were given accommodation.
He said others that who were not given accommodation inside campus should sort themselves out adding that the university has done all of his best to help students amidst this period of pandemic.
