As part of her mandate and also, a means of discharging corporate social responsibility on behalf of the university, the Department of Public Health Science in collaboration with the Department of Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science of Fountain University organized a public health outreach to Oshara community in Osogbo, Osun State over the weekend.
According to the Head of the Department of Public Health Science, Mrs Kafayat Adegbore, the annual medical outreach is targeted towards sensitizing the target community on the need to be medically aware of their surroundings and health conditions which will, in turn, translate to a healthy and quality lifestyle.
Mrs Adegbore added that the sensitization exercise is also targeted towards contributing to the achievement of goal 3 of the United Nations sustainable development goals SDGs. In her words, she said, “We plan to carry out series of free tests that range from malaria parasite test, HIV test, Hepatitis B&C test, Urinalysis and Stool tests as part of our effort towards contributing to good health and wellbeing of our target community”.
The free health outreach which saw to the free medical diagnosis of over 120 community members also gave another practical opportunity to the students of Fountain University who were able to deploy their theoretical knowledge to action.
On their part, beneficiaries in the target community expressed their delight at the intervention of Fountain University for reaching out while asking for other corporate organizations to follow the noble foundation that the institution has laid.
