Despite the Federal Government order for higher institutions to reopen and resume academic activities, the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria has released a statement today stating why the institution won’t reopen on the scheduled 25th of January as announced earlier.
In a statement released and signed by the University’s director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar, he stated that the earlier announced date of January 25, 2021 is now postponed as the state government is yet to approve the reopening of the institution.
Stated below are details of the released circular.
This is to inform students, parents and the general public that Ahmadu Bello University is still awaiting approval from the Kaduna State Government for the reopening of the Institution.
The State Government sent a verification team to the University on Wednesday, 20th January, 2021 to specifically assess ABU’s compliance with COVID-19 preventive protocols. The University has indeed enjoyed the tremendous cooperation of the team during the assessment tour.
It would be recalled that the University had on Tuesday, 12th January, 2021 announced its decision to reopen for resumption of academic activities on Monday, 25th January, 2021 subject to further directives issued by the Federal and Kaduna State Governments.
Meanwhile, University Management wishes to reassure all students, parents and other stakeholders that whatever decision communicated to the Institution will be conveyed to them immediately for further action.
