The Kebbi State University of Science and Technology Alieru, (KSUST) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Wednesday denied suspending the ongoing national strike by the union.
The State Chairman of ASUU, Comrade Yale Ibrahim, said the body had informed the university’s management of its willingness to join the national strike which commenced on February 14, 2022.
KSUST had in a letter dated August 24, 2022, signed by the university’s Secretary, Abdulazeez Salihu, announced the resumption of academic activities in the institution.
The letter also contained the timetable of the academic activities to be followed.
Reacting to this, Ibrahim said the strike was still ongoing in the institution, noting that lecturers would not resume on the date given by the management.
“We want to state here, that, the university is still on strike and that no academic staff will resume on that date as contained in the letter,” he said.
Ibrahim further advised the academic staff of the institution to remain at home until the national industrial action is suspended.
