ASUU members met at University of Lagos on 21st Nov to discuss whether to suspend the strike or not. This meeting was necessary following the outcome of the ASUU/FG meeting held on 20th Nov. ASUU has concluded to continue consulting, and have agreed to get back to the Federal Government (FG) on Friday 27th Nov, after their consultations. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, today, says all the branches, which are over 70, will participate in the decision to either call – off the strike or not.
ASUU President, Prof Ogunyemi said “We are reporting back to the government on Friday. That is when the consultation will end.
The Federal Government yesterday agreed to ASUU’s demand to pay their members’ salary arrears from February to June through the old salary payment platform, pending when the university lecturers will complete the development of its own payment platform- (UTAS).
